QOrganic farmingI am considering organic production of field crops. What should I clarify in advance?
Three decisive questions: how you will manage weeds, where you will get nutrients from and who you will sell to. Talk to an organic control body about the requirements, the conversion period and the paperwork, and review your machinery and a possible crop rotation.
Also work out a bad scenario: a lower yield, or a price no higher than for conventional produce. The conversion needs a production plan and a market, not just giving up certain products. For real experience — good practice 2 ("Organic Grain", Varna).
