Frequently asked questions
QSmart technologiesThe satellite map shows yellow and red patches. Does this mean there is a lack of nitrogen?
Expert answer
In short: Not necessarily — the map shows where to look, and the cause is found in the field.
You cannot draw that conclusion from the colour alone. First check which index the map shows (e.g. NDVI) and what its legend is. The differences may be related to plant density, development, water, nutrition or another problem.
Use the map to choose where to go and inspect. Check the plants, roots and soil and, if needed, have an analysis done. Turning the map into a fertiliser recommendation requires an additional agronomic assessment.
