Frequently asked questions
QFertilisationDoes it make sense to fertilise different parts of one field differently?
Expert answer
In short: Yes, when differences are lasting and the cause has been confirmed with analyses and observations over more than one season.
It does, when the differences are lasting and their causes are known. Use soil analyses, yield history and observations over more than one season to define zones with different needs and potential.
A weak zone does not automatically get more fertiliser. If the limit is shallow soil or lack of water, a higher rate may be a wasted cost. Variable-rate fertilisation is useful when the map is turned into a sound agronomic recommendation.
