Frequently asked questions
QFertilisationThe field is uneven — in some places the crop is good, in others it lags behind. Should I add more fertiliser?
Expert answer
In short: First find the cause — drought, compaction, acidity or disease; more fertiliser will not help if nutrition is not the problem.
First find the cause. A weak crop may be due to a lack of nutrients, but also to drought, waterlogging, compaction, unsuitable pH, disease or poor emergence.
Take separate soil samples from the good and weak areas — if you mix them, the result may hide the differences. Compare the roots too. When the cause is compaction or lack of water, extra fertiliser will not solve the problem.
