Frequently asked questions
QCrops & sowingDo shelterbelts and mixed cropping have a place on an arable farm?
They do, but they need planning. Shelterbelts limit wind and erosion — important for the open fields of Dobrudzha — but they take up land, and next to them there may be competition for water, light and nutrients. Layout and species are matched to the terrain and machinery.
With mixed cropping, first be clear about the purpose: a mix for fodder has different requirements from a mix for grain. Check ripening times, harvesting, separation and marketing, and test the combination on a small area.
